Theatre Projects is hiring a theatre design consultant to join its team in London.
Theatre Projects (TP) is a world-leading theatre design consultancy with a global team of more than 60 experts in theatre design, planning, technology, operations, and acoustics. We work with architects and builders to design and deliver performing arts venues all over the world. Since our start in 1957, we’ve worked on more than 1,600 projects in 80 countries, including some of the world’s most iconic spaces like the National Theatre and The Lowry in the UK, Dubai Opera, Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA, The Esplanade, Singapore and Shanghai Grand Opera House.
About the role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled theatre design consultant to join our London team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to prestigious cultural projects around the globe. The ideal candidate will bring strong design expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine interest in theatre architecture.
This position is ideal for someone who has experience in the design and planning of cultural or public buildings, has great attention to detail and is conversant with UK and international standards for public assembly. An interest or involvement in theatre or the performing arts would be a distinct advantage.
Your skills – you’re someone who can:
- collaborate with architects, clients, and internal teams to develop innovative theatre design solutions for auditoria and seating, and the layout and planning of back of house and front of house spaces
- contribute to design development, documentation, and presentation materials
- support project delivery from concept through to completion
- engage in research and design analysis to inform project strategies
- participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and workshops.
Your experience – you’ll have:
- master’s degree/Part 2 architectural qualification, or equivalent in design or a related field
- minimum of four years’ experience in architectural or similar design practice
- proficiency in Microstation/AutoCAD/Revit, Rhino, MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- strong communication and organisational skills
- ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- confidence working independently and as part of a team
- fluency in written and spoken English
- proof of the legal right to work in the UK
Valued – you may have:
- previous experience working in a creative or design studio environment
- experience working on cultural or public buildings
- an interest or involvement in theatre or the performing arts
Employment details
This is a full-time, permanent position for 35 hours per week plus any additional time required to satisfy project requirements, based in our London office in Kentish Town, with flexible remote working options.
Salary
£35,000 – £40,000 dependent on experience.
