Snøhetta is looking for a senior interior architectural designer to join its team in Hong Kong.
Snøhetta is a transdisciplinary, dialogue-driven practice including architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, art, product design, graphic and digital design, often integrating a combination of interests across our projects.
We are seeking a Senior Interior Architectural Designer to join Snøhetta Asia team based in the Hong Kong office for a fixed term contract. The role to be a key part in expanding our footprint with interior design and in developing the discipline.
The right candidate will have 10 to 12 years’ of extensive experience, from early concepts to project completion, particularly those with a proven track record in high-end resort and hospitality design. International exposure, especially in Asia, is essential. Proficient in English is required, and additional language skills in Japanese, Chinese, or Korean will be advantageous for this position.
As a senior interior architectural designer in Snøhetta Asia, you will be welcomed into an open and transdisciplinary team. You will lead high-profile international projects, tackling complex design challenges that foster professional growth and innovation.
You will work both independently and collaboratively, leading projects at various stages while mentoring junior designers. You should demonstrate strong capabilities in delivering projects and coordinating teams. Your role will also involve team management and business development, contributing to the studio’s acquisitions efforts.

Your role and responsibilities:
- lead the conceptualisation and development of innovative interior designs that align with project goals and client expectations
- select materials and finishes with a focus on sustainability and innovative design solutions that enhance the overall aesthetic
- oversee project timelines, deliverables, and milestones to ensure successful completion within established deadlines
- coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to streamline processes and enhance collaboration across projects
- keep meticulous project documentation, including design briefs and progress reports, to provide transparency and clarity throughout the process
- mentor and guide junior designers, fostering professional development and encouraging creative growth
- cultivate and mentor a team of interior designers, providing support and fostering professional development and encouraging a culture of creativity and innovation
- encourage collaboration through open communication, regular brainstorming sessions, and constructive design critiques
- develop strong, trust-based relationships with clients through proactive communication, ensuring their needs and feedback are prioritised
- deliver compelling design presentation and updates, making sure the client’s vision is central to the project’s evolution
- develop and manage project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints while maintaining design quality
- conduct regular budget reviews and adjust project plans as necessary to align with financial goals
- identify cost-effective solutions that do not compromise quality, negotiating with vendors and suppliers to optimize resource allocation
- actively participate in the studio acquisition efforts, identifying new business opportunities and fostering relationships that could lead to future projects
Who can apply?
- bachelors and/or masters or equivalent in interior design
- a minimum of 10 to 12 years’ of professional interior design experience
- proven international experience, particularly in high-end resort design
- strong background in hospitality design
- a strong portfolio demonstrating full-package experience delivery, including hands-on site experience, is crucial
- prior experience working in Asia is necessary
- proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Japanese, Chinese or Korean will be considered a plus for this position
- a deep commitment to innovative design solutions that enhance user experience and promote sustainability is vital
Technical skills:
- expert in interior architectural design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite)
- strong understanding of eco-friendly practices, integrating sustainability into design solutions
- skilled in producing high-quality drawings and specifications that meet industry standards
- in-depth knowledge of local building codes and regulations for safe and legal designs
- excellent digital presentation skills; ability to confidently pitch design concepts to clients, effectively communicating vision and value
- proficient in utilising collaboration platforms (e.g., Miro, Microsoft Teams) to enhance team communication, streamline workflows, and facilitate real-time project collaboration
- skilled in resolving conflicts and addressing client concerns effectively to maintain positive relationships
- able to communicate ideas and designs clearly to both internal teams and clients
- skilled at juggling multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and focus
- proven ability to delegate technical tasks effectively to team members, ensuring optimal workflow and project success
