What You’ll Do

The senior technical designer reviews operator brand standards, local authority guidelines and reviews quality checks of the design drawings, shop drawings, and specifications prepared by the designers, that they confirm with company drawing standards and conventions and communicate the design intent as required for construction. The senior technical designer also recommends appropriate details and methods for construction and a way forward to ensure the drawing package is complete and to the highest standards.

The senior technical designer follows and administers all SOP’s and checklists and overviews the PQP (long form of this phrase) for the post-contract services.

Projects include:

  • hospitality (hotels and F&B)
  • private residences and residential developments
    office spaces
  • retail locations, e.g. malls, shops, cafes, forecourts
  • leisure spaces, e.g. cinema, recreation complexes

Additional role and responsibilities:

  • overviewing detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models, and schemes, using computer-aided design (CAD) software or red line markups whichever is appropriate for the project
  • maintaining quality of drawings, details and standards and overviewing this with the design team. Pointing out corrections
  • surveying buildings if necessary to see site conditions and attend site to ensure all details and existing conditions are captured and detailed solutions are prepared
  • preparing checklist items to be included in drawings and updating the PQP as necessary working with the Quality Administrator
  • ensuring documentation complies with ISO and local building regulations
  • ensuring documentation is in line with Operator manual & design standards where applicable
  • working in a team with other designers and CAD team
  • supervising work at the design development and documentation stage and on-site post-contract services when and if required on projects assigned
  • coordinating with architects and other Engineering and design professionals to determine the best resolved solutions working with manufacturers and contractors to determine the most appropriate details for the project
  • coordinating detail drawings with specialist drawings to ensure good integration, such as kitchen specialist drawings, spa specialist, signage, lighting architects etc.
  • keeping up to date with new developments in the design industry
  • ensuring no gaps are left within the packages, and chasing to get the information on time and per quality to maintain deadlines and delivery
  • coordinating with FF&E design team to ensure CAD block are accurately produced per FF&E selections
  • lead by example and ensure the team are providing a professional level of service and consistently exhibiting Kristina Zanic Consultants Service standard and values

Other responsibilities:

  • ensure full use of the filing system and databases
  • be punctual and on time to commence work
  • be responsible for ensuring that a professional, neat and tidy appearance is portrayed at all times, including leading by example through maintaining high standards of morale and appearance
  • assist and work together as part of a team, creating and maintaining a harmonious work environment. Be readily available at all times to deal with problems or concerns
  • ensure company rules and procedures are followed in accordance with the employee handbook and lead by example
  • build and foster harmonious client relationships

Qualifications and experience:

  • minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar position, with a bachelor degree in architecture or interior design
  • possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • possess strong administrative skills, timely project completion, record keeping, monthly reporting, time management and organisational skills
  • possess a passion for the design industry, motivation and a team player attitude
  • experience in the site construction phase and able to give advice on technical solution during the coordination process

Languages and skills:

  • English (written, reading, spoken)
  • required to have a working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • proficient in AutoCAD and other design-related Software e.g. Sketch-up, Photoshop, Revit
  • knowledgeable in details and understanding of material applications
  • up to date on the current trend in the latest materials and its application
  • manual detail sketching
