We support artists, clients, fabricators and curators alike by forming a unique team around their collective and specific project needs.
Position description
Technical designers are the backbone of Kizy Art Productions (KAP) and critical team members in contributing to each project’s success. We are seeking candidates who are not only technically proficient, but are driven to work collaboratively and drive projects in all aspects from design and specifications to project management and installation oversight.
Professionalism, creativity and adaptability are equally essential. Every project is unique in form and materiality, so we are foremost interested in finding creative candidates with strong problem solving skills, ready to transform the project and their skills around complicated formal issues as they evolve in time. Candidates must thrive in waters where uncertainty and change are common, enjoy unique challenges and have a strong aesthetic eye for design and technical specifications as they support a step by step process to meet a project’s artistic and budgetary needs.
Contract information
KAP operates with clients on a project by project basis. Unless otherwise stated as a flat fee for special projects, technical designers receive hourly compensation of approximately $60-70 per hour depending on their experience and technical knowledge base. We ask that all teammates be available for meetings between 9am-6pm Eastern Time.
Contractors must provide their own computers and software unless otherwise discussed.
Experience must include:
- professionalism in communicating directly with clients, fabricators, contractors and others
- strong experience in Rhino 3D or similar dynamic 3D software to create concept design and fabrication models
- experience in issuing technical design drawings sets and creating shop drawings
- fluency in either Rhino 3D, ZBrush, Inventor, and/or other CAD modeling software
- knowledge in specifying hardware, coordinating with engineers, and compiling BOM’s
- laying out axonometric and exploded axonometric diagrams
Additional valued experience includes:
- agility in Grasshopper, Solidworks and /or Inventor
- rendering experience or graphic design skills
- experience as a shop fabricator
