Middleweight/senior technical draughtsperson

Opus Magnum is hiring a middleweight/senior draughtsperson to join its team in London.
Location: London SW18
Full-time, salary based on experience, employee-owned company.

We are now looking for a middleweight / senior draughtsperson who shares our passion for excellence and is ready to take the next step in their career. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to work at the high end of commercial furniture manufacturing. This position is full time at our workshop in Wandsworth.
Key responsibilities:
- to draught items in wood, metal and plastic using Fusion (and Vectorworks) to create 3D CAD generated models and concise 2D technical drawings. these will range from simple ‘sales’ drawings for client approval, to fully detailed workshop construction drawings and sub-contractors manufacturing drawings
- to bring your knowledge of manufacturing while also seeking out and learning the preferred manufacturing methods and construction techniques in house and from external suppliers
- to resolve design or specification problems that might arise from time to time in collaboration with the wider team
- to work towards creating the optimum product in terms of aesthetics, quality and efficiency of manufacture using input from the sales, design and production teams
- to work within the time and financial budgets allocated to the project. this time allocation should be recorded daily
- to maintain drawing sets, and file items correctly on our server, ensuring the current revision is available to the relevant parties
Skills and experience:
- a minimum of five years as a technical designer in the high-end furniture / manufacturing industry
- to be skilled in producing concise and detailed manufacturing models and drawings, for in house and external fabricators
- you will be meticulous and accurate, producing 3D and 2D work quickly and efficiently to a high standard
- very good at time management and hitting deadlines under pressure, while working across multiple projects
- a team player that can work collaboratively with others in the design team and wider team
- someone who is happy and open to discuss the best solutions and adopt the ideas of others if needs be
- an extensive understanding of furniture construction methods, techniques and finishes in timber and metal
- experience with Fusion 3D and 2D is a requirement and Vectorworks would be a bonus
- a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, grow and adapt as required, with a practical, solutions-driven mindset
- experience in rendering would also be desirable
