London, UK
Interior architect or designer
at Finkernagel Ross

Finkernagel Ross is hiring an interior architect or designer to join its team in London.

About us

At Finkernagel Ross, we design more than interiors – we create homes that are both deeply functional and quietly extraordinary. With studios in London and Hamburg, our work spans high-end residential and boutique hospitality projects across the UK and Europe, including the UK’s largest domestic Passivhaus and EnerPHit home.

From our Shoreditch High Street studio, we operate with the energy of a boutique practice and the ambition of an international team. We’re guided by clarity, sustainability, and a belief that design should enrich everyday living. Our culture values both excellence and balance. We close early on Fridays, support hybrid working, and foster a collaborative environment where rigour and kindness go hand in hand.

About you

You are an interior architect or designer with a refined design sensibility and proven experience leading high-end residential projects from start to finish. You balance creativity with technical depth, are someone who sketches as easily as you detail, and who can map the flow of a home while also specifying joinery, finishes, and lighting to perfection.

You may already be leading projects within a design studio, or perhaps you’ve honed your aesthetic and leadership skills elsewhere and are now looking for a place where your passion for design and service is truly valued. However you’ve gained your project-running experience, what matters most is that your design aesthetic—and your belief in what constitutes good design—resonates with the work we deliver as a studio. Either way, you bring curiosity, ambition, and a portfolio that reflects both sophistication and practicality.

The role

This role sits at the intersection of design leadership, project delivery, and client care. You’ll work closely with a director, guiding projects from first sketches through to the moment a client steps into their finished home.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • developing the design concept, vision and spatial layouts that reflect both elegance and liveability
  • leading design development and detailing across joinery, finishes, decorative lighting, and technical aspects
  • producing and presenting compelling drawings from sketches to mood boards through to digital imagery as the design progresses (experience in 2D and 3D hand sketching, Concepts, Enscape, MidJourney a plus but not a requirement)
  • running projects end-to-end: programming, documentation, consultant coordination, and client communication
  • leading design reviews and presentations with confidence and clarity
  • maintaining design integrity across all stages, balancing creativity with buildability
  • supporting and mentoring more junior team members
  • there will also be opportunities to contribute to the selection of FF&E and, if experienced, procurement through EstiPC or EstiMac

This is a rare chance to work directly alongside a director, helping to shape not only projects but also the evolving vision of our interiors practice.

The requirements

We’re looking for a candidate with both design sophistication and finesse and proven delivery skills.
