There is an opportunity for contract carpet tile designers to join burmatex in Ossett, UK.
burmatex® is one of the UK’s leading designers and manufacturers of contract carpet tiles, based in Ossett, west Yorkshire. Our eco-friendly portfolio focuses on the design and creation of innovative products to meet the needs of architects, designers and contractors.
We are expanding our design team and are looking for flexible and enthusiastic team players with a passionate interest in design. You will be involved in the creation of new product ranges from concept to launch. Ideally, you would have an understanding of textile or tufted carpet design, with the ability to communicate ideas with confidence. A strong personality and enthusiasm are essential.
Below is an overview of what is entailed in the roles:
- range design
- creating flooring design schemes from customer/your own brief
- liaising with customers and suppliers
- product development, from concept to launch
- planning studio photography shoots
- visiting trade shows and exhibitions
- opportunities to travel abroad
- inter-departmental meetings
Skills required:
- enthusiastic and personable communication and presentation skills
- relevant design degree, or equivalent commercial experience
- Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator
- Microsoft Office package
- excellent time management
- use of research techniques to follow current and future design and colour trends
- knowledge of the commercial interior market
Desirable skills:
- NedGraphics design package, or equivalent design software
- experience with SketchUp design package
- social media competency
- familiar and comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment
