Atelier Brückner is recruiting a senior exhibition designer or senior interior architect to join its office in Stuttgart, Germany.
Atelier Brückner is a leading design office for museums and exhibitions, architecture, Expo pavilions such as the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Museum of London or the State Museum of Art of Uzbekistan. As general planner we cover all design phases and disciplines – exhibition design/fit out, architecture, scenography, graphics, lighting, media and content. We work in interdisciplinary project teams with 145 designers and architects from diverse design and cultural backgrounds. Following our philosophy ‘form follows content’ we aim to communicate content in new fascinating ways by generating spatial atmospheres, which take the visitor on a journey along a narrative pathway.
Job description
Atelier Brückner is looking for a senior exhibition designer/interior architect to join our team for a major archaeological museum project in Europe at the earliest possible date. This is a classical object-driven museum project with an exhibition size of approx. 15,000 sqm featuring more than 300 showcases. We are looking for a senior exhibition designer who loves to deal with objects, planning, detailing and realising great concepts for exhibitions across Europe. We are looking for an ambitious, open-minded person with a passion for design and realisation and a very good knowledge of English (other foreign languages are an advantage); German language skills are welcome.
Start as soon as possible. Working place is Stuttgart, Germany. Travels to the project venues will take place.
Your task:
- planning through all design stages from concept and detail planning to tender, supervision on site and documentation for national and international exhibition projects through all service phases
- planning and development of showcase layouts, showcase detailing and object mounting solutions
- design and arrangement of exhibit objects within showcases, as well as placement and integration of large-scale objects within exhibition space
• development and detailing of exhibition design elements, including interior fit-out, showcases, media installations and other exhibition components - taking over planning and delivery responsibility for certain subareas, including team coordination and direction
- work within in-house project team (interdisciplinary design team) and all parties involved
- collaboration with external technical planning partners and subcontractors throughout the project
- communication with client and other project stakeholders
Your profile:
- successfully completed university studies in the field of interior design/architecture/scenography
- minimum of five years’ experience as a designer/architect of international exhibition design in all design stages, including detail planning, tender and construction
- very good design and planning skills, strong visual and illustration skills and a deep technical understanding
- experience to work with objects and their content, love to understand content and create forms follows content
- absolutely fluent in English, both in writing and speech; German language skills is a plus, other language skills welcome
- proficiency in Vectorworks 2D/3D, Rhibo 3D, graphic and standard office programmes
- interest in international and interdisciplinary exhibition design, scenography and architecture based on the idea of ‘form follows content’
- flexible, open-minded personality
- team player and strong organisational skills, as well as a well-structured and reliable way of working
- highly motivated, energetic, resilience and sense of responsibility
- willingness to travel
