Furniture/cabinet designer
at Minale and Mann
Minale + Mann is recruiting a furniture/cabinet designer to work on bespoke projects in London.
We are a London‐based furniture design group, creating bespoke furniture and kitchens for residential projects. Our furniture is designed and made in-house, offering a fully bespoke service. Our home is in thriving Battersea, at the Minale + Mann design studio, along with a state‐of‐the‐art workshop on a nearby site.
The successful candidate will be a confident designer running multiple projects autonomously. Process includes client liaison + presentations, quotation + design, detailed construction drawings + ordering. After design sign off, you will be required to manage the production and installation schedule. We work in collaboration with Minale + Mann architecture and interior design team, bringing a truly unique and exciting approach to bespoke furniture design, with fantastic opportunities for future career progression.
Reporting directly to the senior designer, the successful candidate will pivotal to the growth of our bespoke furniture service. A willingness to be involved in the everyday running of the business will be essential, from researching materials, to dealing with suppliers and client enquiries.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- managing several projects at one time
- work alongside Minale + Mann Interior design team on exciting schemes
- AutoCAD and SketchUp drawings: concept designs, furniture layouts, design detailing
- SketchUp 3D modelling
- production of shop drawings
- site surveys
- presenting to, and communicating with clients to achieve deadlines
- overseeing fabrication and installation
- costing and estimates
- procurement: placing orders, tracking deliveries and keeping to deadlines
- ordering samples and maintaining the sample library
Skills and attributes:
- BA degree in furniture/product/interior design
- previous built in fitted joinery/furniture design essential
- experience in managing clients, projects and schedules.
- excellent design and technical drawing skills, with an eye for detail
- very good experience with 2D + 3D computer packages: Google SketchUp, VRay, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. The Adobe suite – Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
- excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English language (both written and spoken)
- self‐motivated and highly organized
- excellent multi‐tasking skills are essential
- enthusiastic, motivated, communicative, and with a hands‐on approach
- strong work ethic, with the ability to work autonomously and within a team
Competitive salary dependent on skills and experience.
