Urban content and communications consultant

ING Media is looking for an international urban content and communications consultant to join its team in London. 

Skills and abilities:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • able to translate a wide range of complex and specialist language into simple and engaging narratives
  • capacity to clearly communicate the ‘big picture’ while incorporating detailed knowledge when appropriate
  • analytical skills, strategically connecting the myriad expertise that makes our cities more liveable and enjoyable

Experience:

  • 10 years’ or more experience in journalism/communication, including editorial responsibility
  • track record of successfully delivering major built environment communication projects
  • project management/coordination of multidisciplinary teams focused on developing and delivering content outputs
  • ability to deliver content in a flexible range of formats, including in print, digital and television
  • conceiving of communication projects that drive change
  • developing and maintaining relationships with city and national urban leaders
  • negotiating and building trust with key contacts/clients to unlock the full value of their areas of expertise
  • experience delivering projects in multiple locations across the world
  • experience working for a university with a focus on urban-based research is advantageous

Knowledge:

  • providing urban thought leadership internally and externally
  • expert knowledge of the global context in which cities are positioned, and able to contextualise cities within national, regional and global settings
  • educated to postgraduate level, ideally in journalism and the built environment
  • thorough understanding of the major trends shaping contemporary cities

Personal attributes:

  • ability to deliver independently and within a team
  • a strong desire to help people see and imagine their cities differently with the capacity to communicate and encourage new visions
  • interested in activating change in the built environment
  • willingness to journey with clients, developing strong relationships over several years
  • attention  to detail

Salary – £45,000 – £55,000 per annum
