FF&E procurement manager

Philippa Thorp Design is looking for a FF&E procurement manager to join its busy London studio.

Main function

  • to manage the FF&E procurement required on our architectural and interior design projects.

Reports to: senior interior designer

Responsibilities/requirements

  • assist with sourcing furnishings, fixtures, equipment, art and decorative items
  • prepare detailed specification schedules of ironmongery, sanitaryware, electrics, finishes, joinery, etc.
  • Correspondence with clients, suppliers and contractors – written and verbal
  • prepare visual presentations for client on InDesign
  • compile comprehensive client estimates on FileMaker
  • work within budgets set by clients
  • place orders on FileMaker and monitor progress through to installation
  • sign off invoices for the accountant
  • work with artisan manufacturers on bespoke pieces of joinery/furniture
  • sign off joinery rod drawings
  • arrange shipments, collection and deliveries of goods
  • attend site visits when necessary
  • managing snagging lists
  • liaising with contractors and suppliers
  • meet with new supplier reps
  • assist with answering telephones. All messages to be emailed to recipient
  • ensure general tidiness of the office is upheld

Key skills and characteristics

  • an in-depth knowledge of products and suppliers, both in the UK and abroad
  • an in-depth, detailed knowledge of specifying bespoke joinery and furnishing items
  • ability to scale off drawings on Vectorworks
  • Microsoft Office, InDesign, FileMaker
  • calm, organised, unflappable person
  • well educated, articulate and literate – able to write excellent letters
  • team player
  • cheerful and positive disposition, sense of humour
  • driving licence with London driving experience
  • common sense, down to earth approach
  • willing to tackle all tasks
  • people handling skills – HNW clients and suppliers
  • intelligence – ability to take the initiative
  • high standard of numeracy
  • well presented and turned out
