Project interior architect
at Space Refinery
Space Refinery is looking for a project interior architect to join its team in Brussels, Belgium.
Space Refinery is a young workspace design and build studio, started in 2016 and rapidly growing. We specialise in helping ambitious companies by creating the perfect workspaces for their teams and business.
We’re a small (semi-virtual and international) team ready to welcome a new local member to join our journey. We’re looking for an (interior) architect/operational management champion to drive the execution of our design projects. If you feel excited by the idea to join an interior design start-up, have the right experience and love to make things happen, read on
Objectives for our new (interior) architect and project manager
Your primary responsibility will be the end-to-end operational management of our projects.
Managing a design project can include any (and more) of the following objectives:
- source vendors and interior solutions for our clients
- source contractors, request quotes and develop cost/value analysis
- develop budgets and project timelines for design, furnishing, and construction
- order, track delivery and installation of project furnishings
- double check that every detail of the construction and space plan will be realised
We will count on you to ensure smooth operational execution of our design projects:
- you will communicate pro-actively with all parties involved, solving problems or hurdles before they even occur
- visit project sites with contractors and/or clients
- organise and oversee furnishing delivery and installation
- you will keep everyone to your timelines and milestones, anticipate delays or unforeseen events, and have a ‘plan-B’ to every ‘plan-A.’
You will help in the administrative execution of each project. Examples of such objectives are:
- develop detailed project quotes for the customers sign-off
- keep track of all goods ordered and paid for per project
- present and document your progress during project review meetings
- update timelines and milestones as projects progress
- based on your day-to-day project management, you will help develop standard operational practices for the Space Refinery team.
Your profile
Every project will be unique and will present you with never seen before challenges, but your natural aptitude is about finding solutions, not finding excuses.
About you:
- you have experience in either construction, architecture or interior design
- you have an entrepreneurial mindset and love to get things done, without losing an eye for detail and quality
- you are very organised and can work independently – as a strong planner and even better executioner
- you don’t lose your cool when things get stressful
- you have the necessary social skills and are able to listen and communicate effectively with all the stakeholders of each project
- you’re not scared of computer work and experienced with requesting and comparing quotes, purchase orders, and invoices
- you are neither afraid of taking responsibility nor of having a difficult conversation
- you strongly agree with us that Space Refinery should bring more value to their clients than anybody else
- you are fluent in English and either Dutch or French (all three is a strong asset)
- you have a driver license (min. type-B)
What we offer:
- the opportunity to take responsibility and grow together with a young and ambitious start-up
- full-time position in the centre of Brussels
- flexible hours doing what you love (if interior design and build is what you love)
- a steep personal growth curve and lots of people interactions
- unlimited coffee
