Theatre architect/Part 2/junior stage engineer with Revit skills

Salary: TBC dependent on experience

We are Satore Studio; masters in the creation of illuminated visual design for lighting and immersive experiences. We are looking for an architect, architectural assistant or junior stage engineer to work closely with our architectural team to develop the technical design for a large performance venue.

This position will act as a focal point for the design and development of the stage engineering portion of the project, assisting the director and senior stage engineer. The holder of the position will facilitate the delivery of key milestones related to the completion of the project over a phased period, throughout detailed design and to tender stage.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • support the senior stage engineer through the project design stage for technical design and documentation
  • design and development of 2D and 3D drawings of specialist stage engineering systems such as rigging points including pulleys, winches, etc with guidance from the senior stage engineer
  • attend coordination meetings
  • produce information for client presentations
  • gain a good understanding of the stage engineering design in order to answer any basic technical questions that may arise
  • help coordinate the technical specifications for tender documentation
  • assist in preparing structural loading information
  • assist in preparing electrical loading information
  • facilitate input into the information flow within various departments, in regards to the project
  • ensure quality control within various departments, in regards to the project
  • be aware, and input into, project submission of statutory approvals

Requirements and qualities:

  • excellent proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • ideally have one-two years of stage engineering experience, with an engineering or relevant design degree. Secondary preference is for an architectural degree with experience working on large entertainment or theatre projects
  • proven technical design ability with experience creating and executing complex technical details
  • drafting experience in the performing arts, architecture, or engineering industries
  • demonstrable experience working on large-scale projects with a proven interest in theatre and performance design
  • experience dealing with complex, multi-faceted clients
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
  • strong organisational skills
  • collaborative work-ethic while working in a dynamic team environment
  • methodical approach to problem-solving utilising appropriate tools and techniques
  • excellent understanding of working within the architectural sector/construction industry
