HTA Design is seeking a chartered designer (off-site/DFMA specialist) to join its team in London.
Due to our growing workload of projects using offsite prefabrication, we are searching for a chartered designer with specialist knowledge in the design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) field.

HTA Design is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary design partnership of specialist teams working collaboratively in architecture, landscape architecture, communications, sustainability and planning.
We are currently designing the tallest prefabricated building in the world and other similar projects are following. Our reputation as leaders in the field of prefabricated sustainable design is bringing us opportunities to work with clients to develop new ways of working and of designing and constructing buildings in the UK and abroad. Working from master plan scale, down to detailed design, you will work with colleagues, engineers, clients and, most importantly, manufacturers, to develop DFMA strategies for projects, help manufacturers to develop systems and products, and work on cutting edge buildings in the UK and overseas.
To be considered, the successful candidate will have:
- chartered member status of a relevant professional institution (near chartered design or engineering professional will be considered)
- minimum of two years’ post chartership experience working on medium to large-scale mixed-use and built projects
- extensive experience of UK urban or suburban housing design, master planning and construction
- a demonstrable interest in the design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) field
- excellent project management skills
- a thorough understanding of agreed project outputs, resource management, specific team responsibilities, delivery time-frames, tracking issues and risks, internal and external communication and escalation
- detailed knowledge of UK residential design standards, building regulations and statutory requirements with evidence of their application over several projects
- knowledge and understanding of major construction methods commonly used in housing
- understanding/experience of how developers, contractors, their subcontractors and technical teams procure and deliver residential developments and mixed-used schemes
- strong attention to detail with exceptional design skills and detail orientation
- good project reporting writing skills
- excellent English language, verbal and written communication skills, including proofing, spelling and grammar
- strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong collaborative internal and external working relationships
- a calm disposition with the ability to work under pressure and to meet project deadlines
- client and team focus
- first class AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and InDesign skills and experience
