Part 2 architectural assistant
at Elicyon

Elicyon is seeking a highly motivated Part 2 architectural assistant to join its creative team in London.

The role

Key responsibilities:

  • work alongside with the project architect and project manager to assist on all architectural stages of our high-end residential design led projects
  • be involved in the early stages of concept development alongside with the interior design team
  • assist with the preparation of application packages to obtain statutory approvals; planning permissions, listed building consents and licenses to alter
  • play a key role in the production of tender and construction information and coordinate consultant input alongside with the project architect
  • support the team with contract administration tasks; RFIs, AIs and shop drawing reviews
  • understand and contribute to the ambitions and values of the practice and have the appropriate skills to drive them forward in a proactive manner
  • support with the project running and quality control

Key competencies

Ownership

To take ownership of the assigned task and process with initiative and responsibility under the supervision of the project architect.

Reliability

To have a strong work ethos and commitment to deliver outstanding, luxury interior designs to the highest quality within a dynamic environment. To be able to meet programme milestones and deliver on deadlines as they are set by the team.

Design

To have a developed spatial criterion and be able to understand space in all its dimensions. To be able to actively contribute to architectural synthesis and spatial design in collaboration with senior members of the team.

Communication

To have the ability to communicate designs and architectural information with the team, consultants and contractors in an efficient, accurate and professional manner. Hand sketching skills will be considered a plus.

Quality control

To have a solid grasp of luxury design and the standards required to achieve high execution levels. Strong self-reviewer with attention to detail. To be able to produce good quality drawings for tender and construction packages that are accurate, reliable and well thought through.

Problem solving

To identify risk factors, detect problems proactively and approach them in a constructive way.

Contract administration

To be familiar with the contract administration procedures (RFIs, AIs, valuations and interim payment certificates). A cost and programme conscious approach is essential.

Bespoke design

Strong technical detailing skills and experience in bespoke joinery and interior fittings. Good knowledge of commonly used construction methods and detailing.

Attitude

To have a team driven and hands-on approach, and the will to take initiative when required.

Key skills, knowledge and experience:

  • university degree in architecture or architectural technology
  • Part 2 or equivalent qualification is essential; this will, however, be weighed along with the experience factor
  • a minimum of two years of experience in luxury residential sector in the UK
  • proven experience in bespoke joinery design and detailing
  • excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
  • right to work the UK

Software skills:

  • to be fluent in AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Photoshop, InDesign and visualising software skills are useful but not essential

Code

  • general knowledge of  UK building regulation standards and local planning policies
