London, UK
FF&E interior design associate
at Ennismore
Ennismore is seeking an FF&E interior design associate to join its firm in London.
The context
Founded by Sharan Pasricha, Ennismore is a global hospitality company and curator of unique properties and experiences. Headquartered in London and New York, we are part developer, part operator and part in-house creative studio.
We began our story with The Hoxton, Shoreditch, in 2012. It disrupted the hotel model with its open house ethos and proving that high-quality experience and style would not need to be sacrificed for value. Since then Ennismore’s portfolio has grown to include Hoxton properties in London, Amsterdam and Paris, the Scottish landmark Gleneagles and several stand-alone, well-regarded restaurants in London. And we’re far from done; the Hoxton continues to grow globally, with four new properties opening in the US within the next year; we’ll be introducing a new highly affordable, yet stylish brand that will challenge the status quo of budget accommodations, and have many other new concepts and ideas in the works.
It’s safe to say our ambition to create experiences that inspire discovery and to do more fun things knows no bounds and will continue to take us many exciting places.
The interior design team is currently just under 20 people strong, most permanent and some freelance, including a mix of skill sets from graduate designers to senior managers.
Where you come in
We’re looking for an interior design associate to manage a team of designers specialising in FF&E. The FF&E team is responsible for designing and specifying off the shelf and custom furniture and lighting across the Ennismore portfolio, as well and sourcing antiques and vintage pieces, managing FF&E schedules, liaising with the project team and the procurement team.
We’ll look to you to:
- build and lead a team as required to deliver the projects allocated to you. You will manage designers from junior to senior levels, supporting your team and inspiring them to think creatively and strategically about challenges and limitations within the project realm. You will be responsible for your team’s deliverables and managing their workload
- lead and inspire high-quality design documentation from concept generation through tender documentation
- work closely with the design director and the other associates at the concept stage and throughout the design documentation process to collectively deliver a cohesive project
- be a positive role model to your team, getting stuck into documentation at necessary times
- build brand design standards for the hotels and projects under your umbrella
- think proactively about the team and the design process, seek out new inspiration sources, challenge the norm and be at the forefront of hospitality design
You’ll be an integral part of the architecture, design and development team, based at Ennismore Sessions House, and you’ll travel frequently, for short durations, within Europe.
What we’re looking for:
- a meticulous designer with an eye for detail and an interest in high-end hospitality projects
- commercial awareness, an ability to deliver quality within the constraints of realistic budgets
- comfortable working in a client capacity, making sensible decisions for the good of the business
- you are highly organised and able to juggle multiple projects effectively with a positive attitude
- an excellent relationship builder, comfortable leading and motivating others and influencing with and without authority; a confident communicator who inspires trust
- a natural mentor, you know how to create an environment that allows people to be themselves and gets the best out of them
- individuals. You’re looking for a place where you can be you; no clones in suits for us
- passion for hospitality, whether that’s a drink, a meal or an event
- you’re not precious; we all leave our egos at the door and help get shit done
- you’ve got ideas; we’re up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once
- you’re all about having a positive impact on the people you interact with, leaving them with a memorable experience
- you’re easy to talk to. If we got stuck in a lift together, we’d have a good time and a few laughs
- you want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and has fun along the way
