Modus Furniture is looking for a head of design and marketing to join its firm in Somerset, UK.

Role summary

Working with the managing director on product ranges and brand marketing direction. Responsible for deliverance of range development and new products to market – from brief to product introduction to operations.

Managing a department that includes NPD, NPI, custom orders and special projects, as well as brand marketing and communication in the marketplace.

Your role will include:

• overall management of the design, marketing and development teams
• developing departmental strategy plans
• ensuring on time deliverance of product to plan
• ea clear and smooth transition from new product design, through development and introduction/hand over to operations
• maintain range reviews and competitor benchmarking to drive new product collections and improvements to existing ranges
• producing briefs and liaising with external designers
• continuous review of products for lean production and engineering improvements to drive profitability
• overseeing departmental management of bespoke client orders and special projects to ensure excellent customer focus
• developing and implementing the company marketing strategy
• ensuring promotion of the brand through events, communication and marketing assets

You need:

• experience of working in the furniture design sector
• a degree in furniture design, industrial design, product engineering or similar (preferable but not essential)
• a minimum of three years’ experience in a management role
• furniture/design engineering; three-five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
• proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD Skills (preferably Autodesk suite – AutoCAD and inventor)
• knowledge of upholstery production and/or joinery preferable
