Designer

Spacelab is recruiting an experienced designer to join its team in London.

We are:

Spacelab; an award-winning consultancy, architecture and design practice. We’ve built a reputation over the past 15 years for being visionaries in the industry. We use research and data to interpret problems and create solutions; re-imagining how spaces can be used more effectively. This has resulted in inspiring and functional spaces that empower the people who use them.

Continuously moving forward, we have recently taken this methodology to a new level; breaking down more industry ‘norms’ and using cutting-edge technology to provide an even more exciting, efficient and collaborative service.

We are looking for an experienced designer who has a bias toward the delivery aspect of design.

Specifically, the role will include:

  • generating, developing and implementing interior design concepts
  • taking ownership of the project and presenting to potential or existing commercial clients
  • site meetings and liaising with consultants
  • working with a team, delegating tasks and providing support to other designers

You are:

  • visionary: always forward thinking, and experimental: ‘Why not?’
  • smart: efficient with time. Excited and curious to endlessly learn
  • real: confident, relatable and down to earth. No ego. Willingness to do what needs to be done
  • dynamic: adaptable and motivated by change. Creatively minded. Proactive ‘can-do’ mindset
  • together: hands-on, empathetic and committed to the needs of the team

You bring:

  • a minimum of seven years’ professional experience
  • experience coordinating design with other consultants
  • confident client handling and presentation skills
  • experience in construction and bespoke detailing
  • proficient use of Vectorworks
  • experience of Revit is advantageous
  • a working knowledge of UK Building Systems, Regulations and construction methods

You get:

A world of no limits. We encourage our team to live, learn and work in a way that suits them. We offer:

  • a personal development plan for training and learning
  • uncapped paid annual leave and a flexible style of working
  • a sociable, none hierarchical, ‘family feel’ culture
  • a collaborative style of working, with a diverse and dynamic team
  • a focus on wellbeing with a cycle to work scheme, mindset training and a range of team exercise classes and challenges
