Dezeen is looking for a creative and meticulous social media and digital assistant to join our team in London.
Dezeen is the world’s most influential online architecture, interiors and design magazine. We are on the hunt for a talented and ambitious digital native to join our digital team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Working alongside our existing social media and digital assistant, the role holder will play a key role in supporting all of the digital team’s objectives.
Primarily they will engage with Dezeen’s audience via social media, growing the reach of our channels and utilising these platforms to increase social referrals to the website. The role holder will also work alongside the digital editor assisting with online competitions and newsletters, as well as undertaking more general administrative duties.
The social media and digital assistants are responsible for devising and posting content on Dezeen’s social media channels, including writing copy and cropping and editing images for use across Dezeen’s social platforms. This role will focus predominantly on Facebook, LinkedIn, WeChat and Instagram so professional experience of these platforms is highly desirable.
The new assistant will work closely with colleagues in the sales team, offering advice on how Dezeen’s social media can be used to increase commercial value for clients and ensuring expectations are met.They will be responsible for designing in-house advertising banners to be used on social media.
The ideal candidate will be someone with high levels of self initiative, who is willing to put forward and help implement innovative new ideas to improve Dezeen’s social media content and its performance, as well as work towards more broad digital goals. They will have experience working closely with sales teams and strong commercial acumen.
Candidates must have excellent writing skills, a passion for social media, and ideally at least one year of experience in a similar role. Knowledge of the architecture and design industries would also be highly beneficial.
Duties will include:
- being an active member of the digital team, assisting with admin and supporting all members of the team
- writing, editing, scheduling and posting content to Dezeen’s social media platforms, predominantly Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram
- managing the relationship with translators and ensuring content is posted regularly to our WeChat channel
- working closely with the sales team to provide clients with exposure on social media that meets their needs and exceeds their expectations
- identifying social media trends and communicating these to the wider team, making content suggestions to the editorial team and offering explanations for social traffic fluctuations
- undertaking community management across social platforms, including responding to post comments and direct messages
- editing photographic content
- regular, structured testing of new ideas and approaches to continually improve Dezeen’s social media strategy
- using analytical tools to track content performance across the website and social channels and using these to improve the performance of content on social media
Essential requirements:
- passion for social media
- meticulous attention to detail
- strong knowledge and experience of using Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and, ideally, WeChat
- up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the latest social media developments and trends
- experience working with commercial teams
- excellent written English and impeccable grammar
- high level of computer literacy
- experience of editing images using Adobe Photoshop
Highly desirable:
- previous experience in a similar role or working within the publishing industry
- good knowledge of the design or architecture industry
