at Cameron Design House

Cameron Design House is looking for a technical designer based in London.

From its studio and offices in St John’s Wood London NW8, they design and manufacture sculptural lighting installations which are distributed around the world.

They are currently recruiting for a technical designer to work with their sales and production teams. This wide-ranging role requires good technical knowledge ideally in the lighting sector however we are more than happy to consider candidates from other design disciplines, particularly product, architecture or interiors.

The technical designer will report to the directors and will be expected to develop their own technical department as the business grows. Day to day the role involves producing technical drawings for coordination with clients along with a wide range of problem-solving and technical challenges. The technical designer works closely with the sales and production team. Off project, the technical designer is involved in the detailed design of new lighting products including managing the regulatory approvals.

The ideal candidate will have several years technical design experience and must be able to demonstrate a clear passion for sculptural lighting as well as interiors and product design. Successful completion of a relevant design course/degree would be preferable. Any experience in technical design and the luxury brand sector would be an advantage. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of products within a small talented team.

The job role will include:

  • working closely with clients to develop bespoke sculptural lighting designs
  • creating lighting specifications, instructions manuals, technical submittals and the like
  • producing CAD drawings and 3D models
  • meeting clients in our studio/showroom and on-site
  • coordinate all technical approvals. UL, CB, CE approvals, including the production of technical foles for each product
  • keeping clients and colleagues happy and safe

Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent written and spoken English and have at least four years experience in a relevant field. Foreign language skills would be an advantage.

Applicants should have good design and technical skills as well as being highly organised and practically minded. IT essentials include an
understanding of 2D and 3D CAD preferably SketchUp, Rhino and Autocad.

Applicants must have good administrative skills with knowledge of G-suite (docs, sheets etc.) or Microsoft Office. Software training will be provided in house for specialist applications.

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, team worker to be an integral addition to our growing company. This is a full-time permanent position and the vacancy is available immediately.
