Studio design manager
Studio Noor is looking for a studio design manager to join its team in Saigon, Vietnam.
Purpose of position
To coordinate, oversee and ensure that the design studio runs smoothly and productively, to support the directors in project management, design process and general operations.
Responsibilities:
Generally overseeing the design of the projects, having a knowledge of all current projects, ensuring all briefs and work are dispatched in the studio based on individuals strengths and skills, creating a workflow structure, reviewing daily work schedules, ensuring work is delivered on deadlines, compiling studio schedules, updating studio schedules regularly, keeping all teams informed about project status, overseeing the annual leave of employees and representing the directors by reporting back and being aware of what is going on at all times.
- managing the design team with a collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships, both internal and external as well as ensuring high-quality design
- working closely with design director to develop suitable designs for the projects
- overseeing the team leaders to develop the design from the starting point to built reality for assigned projects and acting as an advisor to them as required
- overseeing preparation of presentations for client, consultant and/or relevant parties
- liaising with necessary consultants regarding the project and discussing and carefully considering how to incorporate their comments into the design
- overseeing the visualisation of design ideas in AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, Illustrator, physical model and/or other suitable media
- overseeing the production of detail drawings for architecture and interiors
- overseeing the specification of suitable and international standard material finishes
- keep up to date with new and interesting suppliers and materials and having knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art signage, colour and materials to carry out design intent
- overseeing the managing of the product and supplier library
Design project management
- managing the day-to-day production on specific projects to meet deadlines accurately
- responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings, project submittals, etc. for document compliance
- communicating and coordinating with management, clients, consultants and contractors related to daily business operations
- planning projects and subordinate designer workflows
- clarifying scope of work, prepare schedule and ensure the projects are kept within schedule
- guiding, supporting and managing project leaders and designers duties to ensure accurate preparation of project construction documents and communication with and coordination of the preparation of documents with consultants, contractors and team members
- overseeing the running and management of ArchiOffice
- overseeing the timesheet process
- supporting directors in time management
- supporting directors in dealing with clients, marketing and pitching new project, making proposal
- communicates performance within the team and within the organisation with regular sales reports
- following best practices and performance standards to meet business objectives and goals; leads by example
- leading communication with client as needed
- helping build a positive, open culture that encourages and rewards cooperation and collaboration
- developing and complete projects without continued direct supervision
- working well under pressure, juggle and prioritise multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines
- interacting with senior management, external client organisations and vendors
- considering training/CPD (continued professional development) sessions for the team
- overseeing follow up with clients regarding RFI’s
- consolidating current design standard system
- conducting weekly team meeting
- evaluating designer performance
Administration/HR
Generally overseeing smooth running of all issues relating to the administration of the projects.
