London, UK
Project architect
at Architecture for London

Architecture for London is seeking an experienced project architect to join its studio in London.

We are a practice dedicated to the creation of sustainable buildings and places. We find solutions to the critical questions facing the city today; how can we build net-zero carbon housing in London, what makes our workplaces fit for the 21st century, and how should we reinvigorate our public spaces so that they engage and excite?

Environmental impact is a key consideration in our work. We take a research-based, fabric first approach to sustainability that carefully considers the embodied energy of materials and the energy performance of our buildings in use. We work toward Passivhaus and EnerPHit standards of comfort and low energy, creating sustainable homes that touch lightly on the earth. We aim to innovate with wood while minimising steel.

We work on a range of residential, mixed-use and commercial projects across Greater London, through all RIBA stages. We were RIBAJ Rising Stars in 2018 and have been shortlisted for the BD Housing Architect of the Year, AJ Small Projects and NLA Don’t Move Improve Awards.

The role requires a minimum of three years’ post-Part 3 practice in a UK studio, including on-site job-running experience.

We have returned to a COVID-secure studio and are not working remotely at present.

The successful applicants will have the following skills:

  • outstanding design talent and technical ability
  • excellent digital/physical model making, sketching and Photoshop skills
  • knowledge of statutory regulations, contracts, procurement and delivery requirements
  • keen interest in sustainability
  • AutoCAD and Sketchup preferable

Please submit your covering letter, CV and portfolio (PDFs only, not more than 10MB) using the ‘apply’ link below.
