Studio design assistant
at Space A
Space A is seeking a design assistant to help in the day-to-day running of its studio London.
The ideal person would have a degree in interior design/architecture/design and be naturally organised, enthusiastic and with a great eye for beautiful design.
This will suit someone looking for all-round experience in a start-up design business with ambitions to grow as a designer and learn about business.
We will need your help in:
- supporting the team on live projects:
- carrying out measured surveys
- producing 2D and 3D drawings
- producing mood boards, design documents and presentations
- producing creative illustrations and graphics
- creating and updating material specification spreadsheets and updating budget information
- managing our object procurement admin – communicating with suppliers, composing invoices and supervising the ordering process
- maintaining a highly organised and efficient workspace (digital and physical)
- keeping our studio material store and display boards beautiful and neatly archived
- researching, archiving and ordering samples, maintaining studio FF&E databases and spreadsheets
- supporting the studio in marketing activities – eg. website updates, social media activity, press releases and PR tasks
- assisting on site for styling and photoshoot days
This job will suit you if you are:
- an excellent organiser who applies themselves with rigour to tasks great and small
- someone with a cheerful “can do” disposition – who comes to the table with solutions not problems, a “doer” not just a “chatter”
- a creative, sideways thinker who methodically approaches challenges with common sense
- naturally fascinated with the design world –someone with a curiosity to explore, learn and a hunger to find great products, precedents and fab people
- a clear and thorough communicator
Ideal skills and software:
- accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawing – AutoCAD and SketchUp better but not essential
- rendering skills in V-Ray a bonus
- hand drawing skills
- Adobe Creative Suite– ability to use indesign, photoshop and illustrator a real asset
- Microsoft Excel – efficient spreadsheet handling
- Microsoft Word
- Google Drive
