Part 2 architectural assistant

Z group is seeking a Part 2 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

Organisational context

Z group architects is part of a forward thinking, client centric, multidisciplinary professional services firm based in Wimbledon, South West London.

Priding itself on joined up thinking, the firm currently offer a wide range of accounting, legal, architectural and surveying services to businesses and individuals across London.

This role works in the architectural team which provides a full range of architectural services from concept through to delivery including services ranging from feasibility, planning, technical design and project management on a number of commercial and residential projects.

Purpose of the role

Z group has a bespoke design led approach, and we are looking for an architectural assistant who is creative with strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an architectural practice in the UK and proven experience of creative and technical abilities.

The candidate must have good communication skills in order to present their ideas clearly and coherently to others.

They must be able to collaborate as part of the team as well as within Z group as a whole to contribute to the practice’s ambitions.

The role must promote the profession as well as Z group by being professional and presentable at all times whilst upholding the values of the code of conduct.

Responsibilities

The role requires strong conceptual design, presentation and written skills, combined with excellent organisational and technical ability.

You will work closely with our architecture team on a diverse range of clients and projects. This could be from the initial concept through to seeing the project on site.

You will:

  • be able to demonstrate excellent design skills via drawings, sketches and models using CAD
  • show digital competence in 2D and 3D software
  • pay close attention to construction detail
  • manage the day to day running of projects under supervision
  • be responsible for own time management and working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • work both independently or as part of a team
  • understand and fulfil client’s requirements and ambitions through clear communication and empathy to ensure their expectations are met
  • liaise confidently with clients, design team consultants, suppliers and local authorities
  • show willingness to learn and develop personal skills, seeking help and advice from more senior members of the team and other senior staff members of Z group as necessary in order to grow

Skills and experience:

  • RIBA Part 1 and 2
  • a minimum of one year’s professional experience in the UK
  • proficient 2D and 3D CAD skills preferably in Vectorworks (advantageous), sketchup Photoshop, MS word, MS Excel (all essential), Indesign (preferred), model making (preferred)
  • strong design, technical and hand drawing skills
  • demonstrable knowledge of UK planning and building regulations
  • ideally have experience in working on bespoke projects
  • thorough and conscientious, with a sensitivity for detail and presentation
  • excellent time management skills, and an ability to manage conflicting or multiple deadlines
  • be able to work independently and as part of a team under the guidance of a senior architect
