Naomi Cleaver is looking for an interior designer/interior architect to join its growing team in Manchester, UK.
Naomi Cleaver is an interior designer, writer and broadcaster leading an award-winning studio. We work across a broad range of sectors, with an appetite for the emerging and unexpected, specialising in collective living and working.
Our process is defined by the engineering of intimate domesticity in shared and/or commercial space; a well-developed knowledge of fabrication, mixing the raw and the polished; imaginative resourcefulness and dynamism, working alongside client and construction teams to meet constantly stimulating targets.
Projects are located throughout the UK and internationally, with studios in London as well as Manchester.
Education and experience
You must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture, and five years’ post-graduate experience. You will need to be a UK national or have a current work visa for the UK.
You must be able to speak and write English perfectly. Typos are tolerable; poor spelling and grammar are a bore.
Role and opportunity
Ours is a small studio with a big reach. You will be required to work across all processes, from conceptualising to running projects, as well as producing drawings and documents quickly and accurately, assisting senior members of staff and mentoring juniors.
Required skills:
- proven ability to run high contract value residential or hotel projects in the UK, from inception to handover
- well-developed, sensitive, intelligent and provocative conceptual skills
- experienced, responsive and accurate drawing skills (Vectorworks/CAD/Revit/SketchUp)
- not be afraid to draw with a pencil or pen/ paint / make a sketch model with real cardboard etc.
- ability to develop and draw bespoke furniture designs
- advanced skills using presentation software such as PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator
- good knowledge of UK building regulations
- proven experience in dealing with suppliers and contractors
- fully competent in FF&E specification, with wide reaching knowledge of UK/European suppliers and manufacturers, including specialists and curiosity in the obscure
- self-motivated, able to work autonomously and efficiently
- self-confident, able to exchange constructive feedback
- excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual
- solid knowledge of construction detailing
Responsibilities:
- managing, producing and coordinating projects to brief, budget and programme, working with and reporting to the associate and principle
- managing the procurement of FF&E items
- developing client relationships
- mentoring junior designers
