Nick Leith-Smith Architecture & Design is looking for a senior interior designer to join its practice in London.

Salary: £35,000-£38,000 per annum depending on experience

NLS is an award winning architecture and interior design studio based in south London. We are looking for a passionate senior interior designer to join our expanding team. The studio is working on a range of projects from larger hospitality projects to smaller scale retail and high-end residential. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in these areas to develop and lead their own interiors team.

Successful candidates should have at least 5-10 years experience in hospitality design professional practice. They will need to demonstrate that they have exceptional design skills, a track record in dealing with clients, able to manage a small team of strong personalities and impressive business acumen.

Key day-to-day tasks include:

  • managing and briefing design team on multiple live projects
  • monitoring all aspects of team’s performance and taking appropriate and timely remedial action when required
  • managing a project’s workflow and efficiently, to program and budget
  • the skill to visualise and develop detailed design concepts and explain them to others
  • building and growing existing client relationships; managing suppliers and contractor relationships
  • managing the procurement of FF&E products and fully competent in producing detailed FF&E specification with costings, materials, finishes, detailing and sanitary schedules

Essential key attributes include:

  • dynamic personality with excellent leadership skills. Past success in managing, motivating and inspiring a team, leading them from project inception to completion for a minimum period of two-four years
  • demonstrable skills at delivering exceptional design with strong attention to detail
  • a proven track record in dealing with clients, suppliers and contractors
  • strong knowledge of technical design for interior architectural elements, joinery as well as FF&E design experience
  • knowledge of the industry including the latest cutting-edge design trends.
  • strong drafting skills, utilising Vectorworks to produce fully detailed interior design intent packages
  • strong presentation skills with excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual
  • Bachelors and Master’s degree in architecture, interior design or similar
  • self-confident and receptive to constructive feedback
  • willingness to travel abroad

Previous experience leading hospitality and retail projects will be a distinct advantage.
