Part 1/2 architectural assistant

Situ Plan is seeking a talented Part 1/2 architectural assistant to join its team in Reading for a 12-month placement.
The role
We are looking for a determined, enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated Part 1/2 architectural assistant to fully integrate within our experienced architecture and landscape team. The successful candidate will be embedded within the studio team, reporting directly to the managing director and technical director. You should be qualified to at least Part 1 RIBA level in architecture and the technical director will act as RIBA mentor for completion of RIBA PEDR documentation.
You will be working closely with the technical director and the other members of the architecture team to have the opportunity to contribute to interesting and challenging projects, whilst also being exposed to landscape, urban design and master planning.
You will be included in client meetings and be given the opportunity to express your views and bring new ideas to the team.
You will put into practice skills that you have been developing using a range of different software packages alongside sketching and hand drawing at varying scales. We will actively encourage you to push your boundaries as an architect in a friendly environment:
About you:
- you will have completed an architecture degree to at least Part 1 RIBA level
- you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship
- you will need to provide a portfolio demonstrating the skills and requirements that have been mentioned in this job specification. Any application that does not include a CV and portfolio will not be considered
- essential software experience in AutoCAD, V-Ray, Sketch-Up, Adobe Suite
- preferred additional software experience: Enscape, Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper
- good hand drawing, production of drawn and graphic information in 2D and 3D
- have good creative and visualisation skills
- a strong communicator with excellent written and spoken English
- demonstrate a commitment to developing ‘technical’ skills
- strive towards achieving a ‘quality’ output in a timely manner
- embrace a variety of roles and responsibilities within the team
- be willing to learn and adapt
- you will need to be a team player; supporting and being supported as necessary
- work collaboratively and contribute to productive team working
- produce high quality work under time pressure
- be a motivated self-starter capable of working autonomously and organising your own work
The Studio
Situ Plan was established in March 2018 as a specialist strategic planning, landscape design, urban design and architecture consultancy, led by managing director Nick Sweet, a former partner at Barton Wilmore LLP.
The team at Situ have a significant reputation and extensive experience in the delivery of projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and America, and because of this reputation we have experienced significant growth since the studio was established with the team now comprising 18 full-time staff.
Our current portfolio of work is based primarily in the Middle East with several major design projects underway ranging from strategic masterplanning through to the detailed design of a major art installation and park of 17km2. We are looking to support the next generation of Architects and as such have created a position for a 12-month placement to come and work in our offices on these exciting projects to gain experience within the industry before returning to education to complete their course.
