Alidad is seeking a project manager to join its team in London.
Summary of position
Alidad is looking for a proactive and highly organised project manager to join this small and busy interior design studio. This role will be based at the studio in Chelsea Harbour, the heart of the interior design industry in the UK. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the architectural side of projects whilst having a working knowledge of the decoration side of the projects. They will be working closely with the managing director and across the design and decoration departments.
During a hand-over period with the current project manager the role will be part-time. After the hand-over period, the role will become full-time: replacing the current project manager.
Job responsibilities:
- acting as the initial point of contact alongside the managing director for all potential projects. Working with the managing director to develop the relationship with the potential client, assessing the project and if suitable winning the contract
- working with the Alidad Ltd management team to draw up the client/project contract for the client to sign
- where necessary leading the planning, implementation and overseeing the entire Alidad Ltd process from initial design concepts to architectural details. Having an overview of the client appointed architect’s remit; the tender process, main contractor appointment and sub-contractor appointments. Overseeing the construction and fit out. Managing specialist finishers and installation
- defining the Alidad Ltd project’s scope and goals and having an overview of any project documentation for example the main contract
- mobilising the project within the Alidad Ltd studio
- coordinating the Alidad Ltd design studio; making sure that all drawings, details and specifications issued by the Alidad studio are delivered correctly and within a timely manner to the client appointed design team (architects, contractors etc).
- conduit between Alidad Ltd design team and client appointed design team conveying concepts, comments, revisions etc and ensuring Alidad Ltd design intent is followed. Liaise between Alidad Ltd and client appointed design teams to resolve any practical, technical, structural or safety requirement issues which may be highlighted within the Alidad Ltd design intent and ultimately ensure the project design drawing and details are signed off by Alidad Ltd
- liaison person between the Alidad Studio and client appointed project team (architects, contractors, site project manager etc) on the project site. Developing and managing these relationships
- working closely with client appointed project team addressing any issues which may arise and dealing with a wide range of people on site, from the client to the site cleaner.
- maintaining a working knowledge of decoration side of the project – ensuring that it is coordinated with the Alidad architectural design intent and the site conditions
- regular site visits to track and oversee the project, making sure that it is on schedule and ensuring that the building is as Alidad Ltd detailing and specification
- managing (coordination and overseeing) the installation of the fit-out elements
- ensuring that the building is completed to the required standards, specifications and details in preparation for Alidad Ltd installation
- managing (coordination and overseeing) the installation of specialist finishes etc, curtains, furniture, objet, decorative lighting, art works etc.
- reporting regularly to the managing director about site and project progress
- travel overseas may be required
Skills:
- detail orientated – intense attention to detail but able to see the bigger picture and everything in between
- extensive experience in interior design, architecture or construction within the luxury interiors industry
- to be attentive, sympathetic and understanding to the managing directors vison and requirements to complete the project
- strong sense of initiative
- self-motivated and independent worker
- able to prioritise and to work to deadlines
- very well organised
- excellent communication skills
- discreet
- ability to be proactive
- happy to roll up their sleeves and assist in all aspects of the business
- polished appearance with a highly professional manner coupled with a friendly and helpful attitude
- full driving license is preferable
IT skills:
- proficient in CAD and Gant type scheduling software
- excellent knowledge of MS Office package and windows
- excellent knowledge of Apple products
- Adobe Photoshop would be preferable
Hours
Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm. Part-time to full-time. Start as soon as possible.
Salary dependent on experience.
