Rider Stirland Architects is seeking an architect with at least three years post qualification experience to join its team in London.
Rider Stirland Architects are a young architectural firm based in southeast London, developing a reputation for delivering beautiful, functional homes. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic architect with a minimum of three years post qualification experience, ideally in the private residential sector, to join our team and grow with us.
The role will involve running small and medium-sized design projects at all stages, mostly through a traditional procurement route. You will be capable of managing multiple projects independently, with supportive guidance and direction from the two founding directors – Alex and Barry.
Initially, the role will be remote working (with computer equipment provided), ultimately becoming studio-based in southeast London. The right individual will gain excellent overall experience and opportunities to develop their role within the practice.
Candidates should possess the following:
- ARB registration, with a minimum of three years post qualification professional experience
- job running experience (or a track record that shows you could move up to this level), on UK renovation/extension projects through all stages, including client management, liaison with consultants, and local authorities
- exemplary design and technical detailing skills
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- demonstrable problem solving and design sensibilities
- working knowledge of RIBA and JCT building contracts, and demonstrable experience in their successful administration
- working knowledge of UK planning policy and procedure, UK building regulations and CDM requirements; particularly with domestic projects
- proficiency in Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, SketchUp
- self-motivation to learn, contribute and take initiative
- ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines under time pressure
Salary: £36,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
