Studio manager

Orms is an award-winning, design-led practice working on a range of projects across London and the UK and we are looking for a motivated and highly organised office manager to support the management team.

Diplomacy, attention to detail, enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to manage a varied workload will all help you to succeed in this role which would be ideal for a confident and experienced multi-tasker with a background in an architectural, design or construction environment, great communication skills, a sound knowledge of English and grammar, and strong IT skills.

The role involves working closely with the directors to ensure that all administrative functions throughout the practice run smoothly.

Duties will include:

Office:

– day to day management of the admin team and overseeing full support team
– ensuring all insurances are up to date office, employer's liability, professional indemnity
– being available as a key point of contact dealing with a wide range of people including employees, clients and external suppliers
– assisting directors as necessary

Human resources:

– responsible for HR function – including contractual compliance with all legal requirements, advising on policy and best practice
– management of annual reviews
– managing and implementing mentoring scheme
– overseeing recruitment of architectural staff and overseeing and participating in recruitment of all admin staff
– working closely with financial controller

Events:

– in-house and external event management

Facilities management:

– liaising with landlord and building manager, liaising with all suppliers and managing contracts e.g. cleaners, maintenance, etc, PAT testing etc.

The successful candidate will have:

– at least five years experience in an architectural, design or construction environment
– excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
– a confident and cheerful 'can do' attitude and plenty of common sense
– a methodical approach to work and an eye for detail
– a resourceful nature and efficient way of working
– a proactive attitude to anticipate requirements and ensure deadlines are met and goals fulfilled
– an organised and driven approach
– strong MS Office skills and ideally some knowledge of Indesign
