Architectural model maker

Studio Fuksas is seeking an architectural model maker to join its team in Rome, Italy.
Working with the product development team, this individual will create rough mock-ups, functional prototypes, and finished (presentation quality) from study model up to physical owner.
Duties and responsibilities:
- experience in fabricating, machining, sanding, finishing, polishing, painting, clear coating, texturing, color mixing and assembly
- develop prototypes of different levels of finish throughout the entire product development process
- create high end visual prototypes used for customer presentation meetings
- develop prototypes using a variety of materials including foam, wood, plastic, metal, composites and other materials
- collaborate with designers and architect to brainstorm solutions to design problems
- help maintain clean, and organised workplace
- great teams work skills
- be able to problem solve and find solution to problems or modifications that may arise
Qualifications and skills:
- degree in architecture, industrial design or fine arts, with a preferred concentration in architectural model making
- almost one to three plus years’ experience in model making
- experience in advanced finishing techniques required to complete presentation models – fabricating, sanding, finishing, polishing, painting, clear coating, texturing and assembly with extreme attention to detail
- Autocad 2D, Rhinoceros and Photoshop
- laser cutting experience
- 3D printing experience
- skilled at visualising a three-dimensional part from mechanical drawings, hand sketches
- experience working with a variety of materials: wood, foam, metal, plastics, and composites
- experience working with a variety of hand and power tools
- interest in Photography as a plus
- fluent English
- must have EU work permit
