Improving our architectural quality and design is enormously important at Tengbom. As a cornerstone of this effort, we have a competition organization that handles all types of competitions in which we participate. The competition organization is responsible for the strategic selection of competitions, appointing teams, implementation, evaluation, competition technique and budgeting . Now we are looking for you – an architect with a strong sense of design and great leadership skills who wants to lead the competition organization and take it to the next level. About the position

As competition manager at Tengbom, you will lead and staff Tengbom’s competition organization and pool of competitions, thus making you an important, key person in the organization. With a keen eye for good architecture and the current market, you will improve Tengbom’s business and brand by focusing on the right competitions and contexts. Your tasks will range from having responsibility for Tengbom’s competition budget to developing competition techniques and processes that enhance the quality of our entries.

You will coach the competition team from start to finish, and ensure they deliver implementable designs of the highest architectural quality. You will be responsible for the competition plan, strategy and focus, and will produce and present a qualitative annual report. You will build and maintain relationships with national and international partners. You will regularly develop and update this contact list as well as a reference list of our projects.

In your role, you will work with business area managers, practice directors and studio directors, as well as lead and plan for competition leaders and employees in Tengbom’s pool of competitions. You will also take on the role of competition leader in selected competitions. Your role is multifaceted and has enormous creative freedom – you have every opportunity to develop Tengbom’s pool of competitions in line with your and the company’s goals and values.

About you

You have a strong sense of design and a passion for architectural expression in every form. You have an eye for the overall picture and for details, and can make quick, yet high-quality assessments of projects and priorities. You are a customer-oriented team player with a genuine ability to inspire, coach and delegate. Your inclusive and pedagogical leadership creates a work environment that people enjoy, as well as the conditions to win. You believe in collaboration, and you are humble, but strive for the best possible results in every assignment.

We are looking for someone who: 

  • has a higher education qualification in architecture (building, interior, landscape or planning)
  • has worked as an architect for at least ten years
  • is a skilled user of multiple tools and programs, such as the Office package, Illustrator, AutoCAD, SketchUp, InDesign, Revit, ArchiCad, 3D-print and simpler visualization
  • can smoothly switch between working in Swedish and English
  • takes a holistic approach to the complexities of planning, design and spatial understanding
  • has been responsible for at least 10 competitions in the past five years
  • has documented experience winning competitions

Your credentials include:

  • a genuine interest in sustainability and digitalization, which has also permeated your latest projects
  • documented experience in similar roles in Sweden and/or abroad
  • responsibility for relevant publications and/or awards
