Fletcher Priest Architects is hiring a bid manager at its firm in London.
Summary
An enthusiastic and proactive bid manager is needed for an AJ 100, award-winning architecture studio based in London’s Fitzrovia. You will be working closely with the partners and associates as part of a communications team to lead the practice’s bids, pitches and competition entries. This position requires an individual with previous experience of a similar role and with extensive knowledge of the architecture and property market.

Objective
Using your industry experience and knowledge, you will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, working with partners and associates to lead the bid process, writing, researching and coordinating the production of UK and international bids and competition submissions.
This is a fast paced and varied role within a creative, busy environment. The bid manager will work as part of the communications team and report to the head of communications. Where appropriate, the bid manager works across other areas of the team’s work, for example events and publications, to support business development opportunities.
Skills required:
– MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
– a keen visual and graphic eye
– excellent written and oral communications skills
Experience
– at least three years’ experience of working within business development in an architectural practice
– experience of leading bids, PPQs, ITTs and competition entries
Competencies

– knowledge of and enthusiasm for architecture, property and the built environment
– proactive and energetic
– confident, outgoing and able to communicate effectively with a range of contacts
– well-informed about the latest developments in bid management
Role/responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Business development
– ensure FPA’s client and contact database is up to date
– research new areas of business opportunity
– attend industry networking and business events on behalf of FPA
– identify useful new business contacts, competitions and leads in the press
– chair the new business meeting and ensure follow-up of actions to ensure staff are clear on their roles/responsibilities in the bid process
Identify opportunities and manage bids
– identify and agree priorities for bids, competitions and tenders
– OJEUs – register, download and circulate as requested
– write, coordinate and submit prioritised PQQs, bids, competitions and tenders in collaboration with project teams
– complete PQQ and ITT submissions
– request and receive clarifications
– work with and support bid teams in preparing answers, interview and presentations
– evaluate the practice’s success in bids and competitions so that lessons can be learned and the approach improved
Maintain archive of resources and information to support bids
– develop and maintain new business resources, including managing and updating CVs
– archive and organise client references and feedback
– manage archiving of bids and organising information about practice approach in order to avoid duplication of effort
– manage client references and quotes, including archiving as a resource
– assess bids and seek feedback
Communications
– work as part of the communications team to agreed priorities
– ensure communications platforms support bids and new business priorities
– use relevant tools to maintain relations with new business contacts, and to distribute publications and other material to clients and prospective clients
– lead the organisation of practice events, in order to cultivate relationships with clients and contacts, and to support new business initiatives
Salary £35-45,000
