Lighting designer
at &Tradition
&Tradition is hiring a lighting designer to join its team in Copenhagen, Denmark.
We are looking for a talented designer who can work alongside acclaimed international designers to create new products within the &Tradition collection, as well as someone who can help us redefine iconic designs from past masters to modern sensibilities. The role requires a good understanding of what consumers look for in a product combined with the right level of detail.
Role summary
As a lighting designer you will take part in designing and developing &Tradition’s lighting collection, working closely with the external designers, internal designers and product developers on expanding and improving the collection. You will report to our head of design and your workplace will be in Copenhagen. If you are currently located outside of Denmark, we can assist in the moving process.
Responsibilities
- working with the external designers, the internal design team and product developers on creating products with a high aesthetic level
- working closely with the design researcher on the classic designs
- sketching and developing ideas into detailed drawings using computer software such as Keyshot and Rhino (and Solidworks)
- researching new materials, finishes and production processes
- producing clear, detailed project documents necessary for a handover to the product development team, in close collaboration with the product coordinator
- ordering samples or working models of the designs
- work efficiently within the deadlines and budgets
- production of 2D and 3D drawings
- developing line extensions for the collection
Experience and knowledge
- bachelor/master degree in product design or relevant experience
- three years’ of experience in a similar position
- proficient in design software such as Keyshot, Rhino and Adobe Suite
- excellent knowledge of materials and production methods
- eye for detail, shape and colour and passion for design
- knowledge of design trends and competition offerings
- good hand-sketching skills
- fluent in English
