Bell & Bell is hiring an interior design assistant to join its team in London.

Bell & Bell is a small, but dedicated design studio with a focus on creating meticulously-crafted interiors for a select and discerning clientele.

The role

We are looking for an organised, flexible and hands-on interior design assistant to join our team. A passion for design and an exacting attention to detail are paramount.

This person will work closely alongside the creative director/lead designer.

Applicants should be familiar with the interior design process from design development, sourcing and specification, through to procurement, production and installation with a particular emphasis on FF&E and bespoke design processes.

Duties

Main duties involve assisting the creative director/lead designer on all phases of the design process as required.

Specifically, the candidate may be required to undertake any or all of the following tasks:

  • produce technical drawings (design layouts, etc.)
  • produce detailed working drawings for bespoke elements: furniture, lighting, joinery, etc.
  • liaise with project managers, architects, contractors, suppliers and consultants, etc.
  • coordinate development of bespoke designs from prototype to end product
  • attend site visits, team briefings and other meetings as required
  • undertake all aspects of FF&E management and coordination, including research, sourcing, specification, budgeting, costing, procurement, documentation and installation
  • undertake all aspects of project documentation, file management and distribution: establish & maintain schedules, timetables, data sheets, technical documentation, RFIs, etc.
  • develop and maintain excellent supplier relationships
  • maintain sample library
  • general office and/or administrative duties as befitting a small studio

Requirements/qualifications:

  • minimum two year’s of studio-based experience in hospitality/residential design
  • bachelor’s degree in interior design
  • proficiency with reading/generating technical drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details, etc.)
  • a solid appreciation of industry standards and regulations
  • knowledge of local and online showrooms, suppliers, artisans and resources
  • excellent communication skills

Software requirements:

  • professional-level design software proficiency (AutoCAD)
  • professional-level design software proficiency (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • proficient at Excel, Microsoft Office and Outlook
