STRS is a creative production workshop, specialising in custom-made objects for artists and designers. Based in Rotterdam, the STRS team is recognised internationally for its expertise in hand-cast and crafted resin production, as well as experienced wood- and metal-workers.
Working closely with both established names and new talent, the team explores the limits of each material and each project with an uncompromising focus on detail and quality. The studio’s collaborative approach and passion for exploration and experimentation allows STRS to constantly push the boundaries of production, optimising its processes and experimenting with both existing and new materials.
Operating at a wide variety of scales – from one-off pieces to large editions and from small objects to major installations – each project is treated with the same extreme attention to detail, from conception to final product. At STRS we work in a young and vibrant team.
Job profile
We are looking for a casting specialist who will be joining our Rotterdam-based Production Team. At STRS you will be part of a skilled team that focuses on the production of high-end design and art pieces.
You will be working on several projects at the same time so you will need strong organisational skills to manage these projects. Since your position is highly specialised, you will receive in-house training to develop your knowledge and skills. It is certainly a pro if you have experience with the casting of resin.
You should be speaking and understanding English properly to communicate with your colleagues and our clients from all over the world.
Job objective
Our clients provide us with designs,drawings and color references that we then translate to a clear production plan. You will be setting up a casting plan together with a colleague of the production team. You will make color-samples in preparation for the final casting and you will make the calculations for the casting and make the recipes. You will mix and cast the material and monitor it during the curing. STRS works with multiple resins such as polyester, epoxy and PU. For each project we develop a unique color-mix so a good eye for color is needed.
