Computational designer

Marks Barfield Architects is looking for a computational designer to join its practice in London.
Our multi award winning practice uses its creative approach to provide visionary and technically astute solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects including: visitor attractions, arts and culture, sports and leisure, residential, education, workplace and infrastructure. We believe that successful projects come from good research, exploration, a response to the climate crisis, collaboration, and great teamwork. Our studio is in Clapham, where our convivial teams are currently trialling a hybrid flexible working pattern.
You will have the opportunity to be trained to progress your career, and to help you take on greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills mature.
This is a great opportunity for somebody planning to develop their computational modelling skills and looking for involvement in the various design stages of many projects, ranging from initial concept design through to construction. You will participate in design reviews and be expected to contribute towards design, work across projects, and apply advanced design technology to assist with project delivery, while also providing diagrams and graphic documentation. In addition, you will assist in practice research and development.
Skills, interests and qualifications:
- degree in architecture, or architectural technology, or computational design
- minimum of two years’ UK practice-based experience
- proven computational and 3D CAD design skills
- keen interest in high quality architecture, structures, and the built environment
- desire to work on unusual and technically challenging tasks
- creative, enthusiastic, and keen to develop new ideas
- friendly, sociable, energetic
- quick learner with demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- interest in sustainability is essential and experience in passivhaus an advantage
- proficiency in Revit, 3D Rhino, Adobe (Indesign and Photoshop), Grasshopper
- real time rendering softwares such as Enscape, Twinmotion, Lumion an advantage – or training provided
- ability to work in CAD animation
