About the role
We are seeking a talented senior project manager with deep experience in industrial design project management.
This person will sit at the core of a dedicated design team, working hand in hand with the project director, principals, and client to help support the creative process, and ensure the team moving forward efficiently and smartly, producing work on time, and within budget.
This role will be initially focused on a large-scale initiative with a client in the lifestyle space who is revolutionizing their industry through design. As such, we are especially interested in connecting with project managers who are entrepreneurial, forward thinking, nimble, and able to push forward beyond accepted conventions.
Your responsibilities:
- act as the clients’ main point of contact
- own project status, timeline, resourcing and budget
- oversee day-to-day work of a diverse team of creative professionals, ensuring efforts are matched to objectives and that projects are progressing in a timely manner
- coordinate and guide research and design efforts ensuring strong integration across many moving parts
- create spreadsheets and documents for estimating and to keep track of work/time/budget
- source and coordinate outside vendors, consultants, researchers, suppliers
- hold the team to the highest standards of quality, time-management and budget discipline
- help guide other team members, share project management expertise, and help establish new processes
- help organize, update, and archive project documentation
Required experience:
- minimum five plus years’ experience as a project manager, playing a key role in supporting project teams
- strong work ethic and ability to manage competing priorities and responsibilities in an independent fashion
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- an understanding of industrial design/ product design processes from design, to fabrication and delivery
- a strong understanding of fabrication methods, production processes/timelines optimization, materials, and industry innovations.
- ideally, an educational background in architecture/industrial design/engineering, or related discipline
- ability to understand shop and design drawings
- proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Drive, Dropbox, Excel, previous experience with Harvest, Slack a plus
- familiarity with 3D rendering/CAD programs
