Temple Bar Trust is seeking an education and outreach officer to join its team in London.
Temple Bar is the new ‘architectural gateway to the City of London’.
In Paternoster Square, next to St Paul’s Cathedral, it opens this summer and is looking for an enthusiastic education and outreach officer to develop and manage its events and talks programme aimed at an audience of school children, visitors and the local community.
This is an exciting opportunity to set up and coordinate a totally new programme, based in this historic building designed by Sir Christopher Wren. It will be a key centre for the Wren 300 commemorations which take place during 2023 to mark the anniversary of the death of England’s greatest architect.
The programme will include talks, walks and workshops designed for a wide age range – from school children to older cultural interest groups, overseas visitors to academics and professionals. You will organise speakers and participants, monitor the running of events and assist in their promotion and ticketing.
Built in 1672, Temple Bar is the only remaining historic gateway to the city and is being brought back into civic use by the Temple Bar Trust (TBT) as an education centre, event space and the Hall of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects. It will be the gateway to the City of London for those wanting to find out more about its planning and architecture – both ancient and modern. TBT is a charity with a key aim to widen the diversity of the architectural profession.
The programme is supported by the City of London Corporation.
Experience
The successful candidate should be familiar with the world of architecture, a self starter but enjoy working with people, a good communicator and coordinator with excellent time management.
