About the role
Working as part of a highly energised team, our middleweight interior designers ensure the highest standards of creative and technical design. Our projects span across multiple sectors with an emphasis on retail and mixed use design projects and with the guidance of the associate director/senior designer you will be responsible for the design and day to day management of an allocated project.
Responsibilities:
- actively seek and share inspiration and reference from sources outside of the business to support creative design solutions
- source reference and carry out research to illustrate a design direction to the clients, working with architects and graphic designers in the project team
- produce concept work using hand sketches and a variety of digital and traditional media to a high standard
- assemble presentations using a variety of digital and traditional media, particularly Adobe InDesign
- attend client meetings and with the support of the associate director and contribute to client presentations
- produce drawing packages for schematic and detail stages
- source reference material and carry out research to ensure that materials and products are fit for purpose
- produce furniture and finishes schedules
- complete risk assessments for projects ready for checking, demonstrate knowledge of DDA requirements
- expand on existing knowledge of markets, our clients and their competitors
- responsible for project communication, including liaising with the design & construction team and written communications
- attend site visits with others and liaise with contractors and design/construction team
- record design team or site meetings either by minutes, letters, emails or file notes
- provide support to any more junior team members
Qualifications and skills:
- degree in interior design or architecture or design related discipline
- minimum three years’ experience working on concept, schematic and/or detailed stage in interior design projects
- experience of retail projects and large format environments is preferred
- creative thinker with sketching skills
- experience of creating a concept from a brief, producing concept work using high quality hand sketches
- ability to think through design problems and outstanding attention to detail
- advanced software skills, including both 2D and 3D software capabilities: Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp or an alternative 3D package such as Rhino; Revit would be beneficial
- demonstrate a basic knowledge of materials and their application
- good communication and organisational skills with the ability to communicate with clients and suppliers on a regular basis
- team player with collaborative work ethic.; proactive and conscientious
- keen to learn and develop skills, sharing knowledge with more junior colleagues
- french as a first or second language is highly advantageous
