Zulufish is looking for a junior interior designer to join its team in London.

Location: Chiswick, West London

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm

Salary: from £26,000+ dependent on experience

About Zulufish

Zulufish is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary design studio specialising in high-end residential projects, predominantly across prime London.

Our integrated approach brings together interior design, architecture and construction, allowing us to offer clients a complete service from concept through to completion.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic junior interior designer to join our growing interiors team in our Chiswick studio.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience across all stages of residential design. Working alongside our interior designers, architects, project managers and construction team, you will gain invaluable exposure to both the creative and practical sides of delivering beautifully designed homes.

We are a small, collaborative studio, so you will be involved in real projects from the outset and have excellent opportunities to develop your skills and progress within the business.

The role

You will support the interior design team across a number of mid- to high-end residential projects, from initial concept and design development through to procurement and installation.

As your experience and confidence grow, you will be encouraged to take increasing responsibility for your own areas of projects and client communication.

Your responsibilities will include:

• developing design concepts, mood boards and client presentations
• FF&E research, sourcing and specification
• producing and updating AutoCAD drawings
• creating SketchUp models and design visuals
• assisting with bespoke joinery design, drawings and material specifications
• preparing detailed specifications, schedules and costing documents
• obtaining supplier quotations and maintaining accurate project budgets
• liaising with suppliers, contractors and the wider project team
• attending site visits and assisting with project implementation
• supporting Creative Director with client presentations and meetings
• keeping project information, samples and documentation organised and up to date

Technical skills and experience

We are looking for someone with:

• ideally one plus years’ experience within an interior design studio, preferably working on residential projects
• a good understanding of the design process from concept and design development through to site implementation
• strong FF&E sourcing skills and an awareness of different design styles, suppliers and current trends
• some experience of bespoke joinery design, including CAD drawings and material specification
• natural creative flair and the ability to produce beautiful, well-considered presentation and mood boards
• good proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp, with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings
• good working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop
• strong Excel skills, including specifications, schedules, costing and budgeting
• a good head for figures and excellent attention to detail

• a collaborative team player who is keen to learn from more experienced members of the studio
• fluent in spoken and written English
• eligible to work in the UK
