Main purpose of job
A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a senior landscape architect/garden designer to join the design team at Arabella Lennox-Boyd, to support and be involved in the development and management of a large range of private landscape projects in the UK, USA and Europe. The senior landscape architect/garden designer will manage the team and office providing regular guidance and mentoring to ensure projects are delivered within budget and on time.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- manage all phases of landscape project development with a focus on design development, adhering to agreed project schedule and workflow, and liaison with suppliers and contractors
- coordinate and deliver the studio’s services within budgets, targets and timescales agreed with the principal
- lead, motivate and develop more junior members of the team
- provide design solutions to landscape project work
- assist in the preparation of graphical information for presentations, concept designs and detail designs
- provide support in preparing specification documents
- assist and implement a broad range of landscape projects, liaising with clients and contractors, preparing contract documentation, appointment and supervision of contractors (including internal teams) and contract administration
- liaise with clients and represent the company in meetings
- keeping records and information in line with the company’s project management system
- attend site visits as projects require
- to work individually or as part of a team
Key skills and experience:
- a degree in garden/landscape design or landscape architecture (or equivalent/similar qualification)
- no fewer than five years’ experience working in the industry
- strong graphic and deign skills
- must be a Mac user and have a thorough working knowledge of Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
- a good understanding of plant material is essential
- self-motivated, fluent in English and a team player
