Situ Plan is looking for a senior architect to join its team in Reading, UK.
The studio
Situ Plan was established in March 2018, in Reading, UK as a specialist strategic planning, landscape design, urban design and architecture consultancy, led by managing director Nick Sweet, former partner at Barton Wilmore LLP.
The team at Situ have a significant reputation and extensive experience in the delivery of projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and America, and because of this reputation we have experienced significant growth since the studio was established, with the team now comprising 18 full-time staff.
Whilst we look to develop our UK presence, our current portfolio of work is based primarily in the Middle East with several major design projects underway ranging from strategic master planning through to the detailed design of a major art installation and park of 17km2. Alongside this detailed work we have a series of large-scale master planning and urban design projects.
The role
As a senior architect, you will be a part of our architecture team and will report to the technical director and managing director.
The role will be developing projects from concept through to construction with an emphasis on international developments but also covering the UK market. Primary focus will be on the Middle East.
You must be able to work independently or as part of a team and with other disciplines both within the office and with external consultants. Be accountable for the delivery of your own projects, lead the design development of schemes and technical packages with Clients and team members to ensure the project is on time, and on budget.
As a potentially client-facing role, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining first-class people and business management skills is essential. You may be reporting ideas and concepts to executive personnel, so the ability to present complex ideas at board level is crucial.
About you:
- minimum of three to four years’ of experience in a senior managing and leadership role
- minimum ten years’ of experience, with extensive experience with built international, large-scale project. Lead complex projects, pro-active technical coordination with internal and external design disciplines, to ensure highest quality standards are met
- to work as part of the team, leading work on defined elements of a project with limited guidance and supervision
- organisation of own work to achieve set deadlines
- confidently present work to clients and colleagues
- a strong communicator with excellent written and spoken English
- excellent teamwork and organisational skills with a strong attention to detail
- has extensive management and technical experience, with large complex projects and multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to manage the production of technical packages (drawings and specifications)
- ability to lead and direct assistants and mentor junior members of staff, working under pressure
- have the technical ability, knowledge, and competence to provide guidance to teach and develop junior staff
- experience with common industry software applications. Further presentation and documentation applications such as 3D modelling applications, BIM applications, 2D drafting applications and specification writing software a plus
- essential software experience in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite
- preferred additional software experience: Enscape, V-Ray, Rhino and Grasshopper
- good hand drawing, production of drawn and graphic information in 2D and 3D
- you will have completed an Architecture degree. Professional accreditation
- you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship
- you will need to provide a portfolio demonstrating the skills and requirements that have been mentioned in this job specification, to include experience in the Middle East. Any application that does not include a CV and portfolio will not be considered
