Mark Grotjahn Studios is seeking an architectural project manager to join its Los Angeles-based artist studio.

Los Angeles-based artist’s studio seeks a full-time project manager with an architectural background for an important multi-building artist’s studio, chapel, a small museum, exhibition space and residential project in Colorado.

The person in this position will work directly with the artist, architectural firms, contractors, subcontractors, and the artist’s studio to ensure that the project is on track and meets the artist’s needs and wants.

Duties include:

  • creating architectural drawings, idea boards and presentations
  • coordinating the fabrication of large-scale models to mock-up interior finishes
  • coordinating all professionals involved in the project from the beginning of construction to completion including architects, contractors, subcontractors, owner’s representative and members of the studio team
  • attending all meetings surrounding the project
  • working with the studio team to ensure that the artist’s vision and practical needs are met
  • making sure that project deadlines and budgets are met
  • serving as the main point of contact/disseminator of information between teams and attending all meetings pertaining to the project
  • preparing progress reports to present to artist and studio team
  • overseeing the construction process and working with the general contractor and subcontractors to guarantee the quality of materials, finishes and processes
  • monitoring RFI’s to ensure that they are answered in a timely manner and reviewing change orders according to project needs

Requirements:

  • at least three years of construction project management experience
  • excellent time management, planning abilities, and organizational skills
  • must be an assertive and clear communicator
  • must be willing to travel between Los Angeles and the job site in Colorado
  • familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD software
  • high-level proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Rhinoceros, PhotoShop and rendering skills a plus
  • large scale model making experience a plus – laser cutting and 3D printing
  • experience using construction management software such as Procore and Bluebeam a plus
