The role
Matthew Cox is looking for an experienced production manager to help shape the future of a sustainable and creative manufacturing business making plans for the next 100 years and more.
As production manager, you oversee the bespoke manufacture of in-house and semi-outsourced furniture and lighting and help set standards for our team, processes and products.
You orchestrate a synchronised operation committed to making furniture and lighting that stands the test of time. You sensitively balance day-to-day operational demands with the longer-term plans for the workshop and its members. Alongside other members of the senior team, you have a significant influence on decision-making within the business and a key role in strategic planning for sustainable growth.
We work in Stamford, Lincolnshire which is regularly named one of the best places to live in the UK.
Hours: 9-5pm Monday to Friday
Salary: £40-45k + profit share + benefits
Key responsibilities
Project management:
- delivering projects on time and on budget
- preparing and monitoring the workflow schedule
- understanding the value of an accurate and complete time recording system to achieve optimum efficiency and maximise our team’s efforts
- optimising systems to manage and support the team including Monday, Xero, etc.
- ensuring stock is well managed
- optimising our infrastructure
- overseeing efficient logistics and maintenance
People:
- inspiring and supporting the workshop team to maintain high standards for production and team culture
- optimising the production environment with health, safety and happiness in mind
- tuning into training needs/future potential in the team
- planning all aspects of the training and development in collaboration with the head of making
Profit:
- understanding how to use accounting system sales, cost of sales and time records allocated across individual profits to measure workshop performance
- analysing productivity and profit within the workshop and using the data to help shape processes, infrastructure and pricing
- advising on pricing within the business and contributing to the development of the quoting tool
Quality:
- ensuring consistent quality of products supplied with appropriate care information
- developing and implementing manufacturing processes and techniques to ensure reliable quality across all levels of experience in the workshop
Innovation:
- contributing to our 100 year plan
- handling our R&D submissions
- working with academic organisations and industry bodies to constantly improve the quality of our products
