Hostmaker is a tech enabled full-service home rentals management company in the proptech category, offering dynamic pricing expertise, thoughtful interior design and hotel-style operations for homes. We raised a Series B round in November 2017 and are backed by institutional funding from credible investors from technology, real estate and hospitality backgrounds.
Marriott International, the largest hotel company in the world, recognised our industry leadership by selecting Hostmaker as preferred partner for its first foray into serviced homestays, introducing Tribute Portfolio Homes in April, 2018.
We have scaled rapidly in just three years to be the European leader with international teams in offices in major destinations – London, Paris, Cote D’Azur, Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon.

We’re on the hunt for a talented General Manager to take the helm of one of the most exciting aspects of our business: our Interior Design and scale it globally across cities to a sustainable, independent business operations. You’ll be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the design business; you’ll also help optimise all interior design strategic and sales activities ensuring stellar growth.
Duties and responsibilities
In this newly developed role as general manager – interior design you will be reporting to the CEO and leading a cross-functional team responsible for delivering exceptional results within our interior design business.
In this role you will:
- define and implement design business strategies, plans and procedures with a focus on driving sales and operational efficiency
- initiate creative local marketing strategies and design growth campaigns in conjunction with our various city and regional leaders
- oversee design’s P&L; and all external factors that could affect it i.e. new market launches, partnerships etc.
- hire, support and develop world class talent within interior design, design sales, project management and design operations teams
- cultivate beneficial relationships with various stakeholders that provide avenues for further expansion activities (sourcing global suppliers, investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
- lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
- set operational objectives; analyse and interpret data and metrics to improve performance and for planning and reporting
- be a thought leader in the industry, manage all external relationships including those with relevant associations, partners/vendors
Who are you?
- you have seven+ years of progressive experience in a Strategy or B2B business development and sales role in a related industry i.e. technology, travel, hospitality, interior design etc.
- you possess a strong academic background: a Bachelor’s degree (2:1 or higher) paired with an MBA or relevant MSc from a top tier school
- you are a sales whizz, a veritable ‘rainmaker’ with a history of leading teams that smash their targets!
- you have a deep understanding of multiple business areas and how they interplay for success: people operations, finance, marketing, technology etc.
- you are also a remarkable leader able to engage and inspire a diverse team of people to follow your lead and perform at a high caliber
- demonstrable competencies in business development, strategic planning, and data analysis of performance and operational metrics
- you have strong presentation skills, and excellent communication skills
- you possess exceptional attention to detail which you’ll demonstrate in your application by mentioning your favourite travel destination
