Finance officer
at Material Cultures
Material Cultures has an opportunity for a finance officer to join its team in London.
Material Cultures is looking for a finance officer/bookkeeper with at least two years of experience or equivalent. You will hold our organisation’s day-to-day financial admin and develop our financial infrastructure with support from the co-directors and our operations manager.
You will hold our operations budget and project budgets as well as all financial activities across both our organisations: Material Cultures and Material Cultures Design.
You are responsible for:
- bookkeeping for Material Cultures and Material Cultures Design, including coding and filing transactions, preparing invoices and bills in Xero
- overseeing monthly preparations of cashflow forecast and management accounts
- preparing all documents for yearly statutory accounts to be delivered to external accountants
- quarterly VAT submissions
As finance officer, you will:
- liaise with our external accountant, submit information to clients and funders as required, and budget reports to directors
- familiarity and interest in alternative economic models, such as not-for-profits and cooperatives are desirable
The successful applicant will be organised and methodical, proficient in numbers and a mathematical way of thinking are essential for the role. However, no specific mathematical knowledge is required.
You are required to commit to working two days per week with the possibility to self-determine the working days Monday to Friday. We are keen to offer flexibility in this role. A regular weekly schedule can be arranged, for example, if you need to arrange work around school hours or other commitments. You must commit to being onsite at the office for your two working days regularly.
