Wētā Workshop is looking for a creative director to join the studio in Wellington, New Zealand.
From the epic to the intimate, our location based experience (LBE) team design, manufacture and install unique and meaningful experiences – from cultural attractions to art installations; from themed public spaces to narrative-driven destinations!

We are looking for creative directors to join our team – one permanent and one fixed-term contract – responsible for the creation, development and execution of creative content and guest experience design for various LBE projects.
Bringing vision and a deep understanding of story-telling and how to apply it to a ‘space’, you’ll direct the creative deliverables and resources, defining the project’s creative intent.
You’ll be responsible for:
- leading and encouraging creative development explorations to arrive at the best vision for projects which build on our LBE offering
- acting as the vision-holder for the project team – inspiring, maintaining and clearly communicating the creative intent for all stakeholders
- holding creative lead of design deliverables from concept to completion

Who we’re looking for:
We need someone who is experienced in understanding how to captivate people, draw them in and move them through a space to increase the visitor experience. Someone who will bring world-leading design and creative solutions, and someone who can ignite and harness the creative skills of the team all around them.
You’ll have a strong, creative portfolio showing high-impact, visitor-facing, immersive experience work. You will need to be able to communicate complex artistic ideas through verbal, written and visual materials, too.
Significant experience in digital content development, art direction and in-field experience based projects is a must, as is experience designing and creatively directing world-class experiences.
