London, UK
Design production assistant
at Yearbook Machine
Yearbook Machine is hiring a design production assistant to join its team for four months in London.
Company
Yearbook Machine is a technology company specialising in making online software for creating printed memory books. Founded in 2008, we are an industry leader, selling books to thousands of groups across the UK and in over 30 countries worldwide. Based in a leafy part of Islington, London, we have a relaxed, straightforward company culture, with a focus on meaningful, high-quality work.
Role
We’re just entering our busiest period of the year, and during the next few months, we will create yearbooks for hundreds of schools and other groups.
During this period, we need a design production assistant to help us with the production of yearbook designs for our customers. This involves operating our systems to create yearbook proofs for customers and print files to be sent to our printers.
The role is computer-based, using the Adobe Creative Suite software including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. We do not require you to already be an expert with these tools as we will train you in what is required, but some degree of existing familiarity would be helpful.
This is an interesting and rewarding job, providing an opportunity to be involved with creating a meaningful product, and to learn valuable software skills. Towards the end of the placement, as our busy season winds down, there will also be opportunities to get involved in other areas of our business, such as print design and software design.
Requirements
The main requirement for this role is to be a fast learner with good attention to detail.
In addition, the ideal candidate would also have:
- some familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite
- excellent written and spoken English
- a friendly, positive attitude
- a sense of style and proportion and an eye for design
- a good level of computer literacy
Salary: £28,000 per annum pro-rata
