Theatre Projects is hiring a document controller/BIM technician to join its team in London.

We work with architects and builders to design and deliver performing arts venues all over the world. Since our start in 1957, we’ve worked on more than 1,600 projects in 80 countries, including some of the world’s most iconic spaces like the National Theatre and The Lowry in the UK, Dubai Opera, Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA, The Esplanade, Singapore and Shanghai Grand Opera House. Our work is worldwide, and this position may require international travel.

About the role

Our successful team needs a document controller and BIM technician based in our London office, but with flexibility to work from home for two to three days per week.

We want an enthusiastic individual committed to the long-term development of their skills, with a strong commitment to collaborative working. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator and be comfortable working with people at all levels. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills will be required to work alongside multiple teams, across varying projects with concurrent deadlines.

Your skills:

  • run document control using common data environments (CDE) – Aconex, ARIBA, BIM 360, etc.
  • track incoming submittals – drawings, RFIs, tech subs, etc. – assist designers in preparing comments and manage the return of reviewed submittals
  • create reliable 2D drawings and 3D Revit models, worksets and families
  • maintain and upload Revit models to websites and CDEs
  • provide BIM support and advice to our designers individually or in groups and identify where training is needed
  • work closely with the team to foresee and resolve scheduling challenges
  • maintain standard document templates for reports and schedules
  • format and proofread deliverables including loading reports, specifications, and study reports
  • manage our project archive

Your experience:

  • three years or more experience coordinating project deliverables in a similar design or construction environment
  • proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, AEC suite, and MS Office
  • a working knowledge of BIM Protocol, PAS 1192 and ISO 19650 and BIM project delivery
  • experience of Aconex, Procore, Viewpoint for Projects or similar CDEs
  • familiarity with COBie, Navisworks and IFC
  • ability to work on your own initiative and within teams
  • good organisational and interpersonal skills and you’ll work well under pressure
  • fluency in written and spoken English
  • proof of the legal right to work in the UK
  • a valid passport

Valued qualities:

  • proficiency in other languages
  • familiarity with; Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam Revu, Rhino
  • a degree in theatre, architecture, engineering or a related field
  • some knowledge of theatre and/or theatre technical systems

Employment details

This is a full-time, permanent position for 40 hours a week, based in our London office. Theatre Projects offers a flexible working scheme based on project demands and recognises the importance of a good work/life balance. We currently offer the opportunity for remote working with two to three days in-office time per week.
